About Lumicé — The Whole Story
We cancelled our own launch.
Three hours after our doors opened on June 10, we shut them again. This page is why — and what that bought you.
Our first launch morning went the way launch mornings are supposed to go. The store opened at 9 AM. The reserve list got their email. The first visitors arrived.
Then our lab documentation came back, and one line stopped everything: a preservative in the formula — methylisothiazolinone — is banned in Canada for leave-on skincare. Not controversial. Not borderline. Banned.
Here is the part nobody says out loud: most brands would have shipped it anyway. The inventory was paid for, the regulation is rarely enforced at small scale, and the fine — if it ever came — would cost less than the stock. That is the actual math, and the industry runs on it.
We closed the store the same day. Every bottle of that formula is still in its box, and none of them will ever be sold. The reformulated serum ships when it passes our own bar — not before.
What “our own bar” means
The bar is simple, and it's permanent. The full ingredient list gets published before you pay a dollar — on the product page and on The Documents page. The vitamin C percentage gets printed on the front of the bottle, where almost no brand puts it. Every batch ships with a certificate of analysis from the lab. And if we ever face a choice between a launch date and the label being true, you already know which one loses.
Why the product is so simple
The serum is three actives — Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid — and a sixty-second place in the morning you already have: after cleansing, before SPF. That simplicity is the same honesty applied to your routine. A shelf of ten products is a subscription to doubt; one bottle that says exactly what's in it is the opposite.
Where we are now
Batch 001 of the reformulated serum is small — we counted — and it's reserving now. Reserving holds your place, locks the reserved-list price, and opens the doors to you 48 hours before anyone else. No payment until launch.
Hold us to all of it.
